Night Circus of Dreams

For Night Circus of Dreams, I got to reunite with an old love of mine: Circus styled shows.

From 2005 to 2008, this was the focus of my performance, even touring around the country in 2007.

It’s what helped get me roles in movies like Statue and Last Exorcism 2.

And my love for it never went away.

It was cathartic to reconnect with an old love, especially with such an amazing cast of performers as we had last night.

Even the next day, waist deep in the troubles of the world and day-to-day life, I’m still riding high on the thrills of last night’s show.

I also got to reconnect with my love of the art.

There’s sadly a lot of politics and maneuverings that take place in entertainment. I wish it could be all about the show, but jealousy, agendas, hurt feelings, egos and dozens of other pressures push on the arena of entertainment from all angles.

That is why you see the same directors use the same actors over and over. Because they’ve found that resonance. They’ve found that connection that makes their work a joy, and they know they’re going to make magic together. And when you find a group like this, you want to hold onto them.

I’m not just excited about last night, I’m grateful for it.

I got to share the stage with so many wonderful, engaging, genuine human beings and performers. Each one is stellar in their own account. Together, I think magic happened last night.

But more than that, I felt surrounded by that group of performers and patrons that feel like family. And there’s no other experience in the world like it.

It’s easy to get jaded in this industry. I’ve been guilty of it myself in the past.

I’ve heard quote “It’s not show friends, it’s show business.”

And, to an extent, that’s true. We have bills to pay. And we need to put together quality, to make it worthwhile to the patrons that paid their hard earned money, and so they don’t feel cheated by the experience. But if I don’t enjoy working with you, I can do that elsewhere and make far more money.

At the heart of the art is the love.

Last night I felt that love.

Thank you to everyone that was and continues to be a part of that.
